Corpus Christi, TX – [June 26, 2024] – Stark College & Seminary is pleased to announce its seminary’s acceptance as an Associate Member of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).
This membership marks a significant milestone for Stark, reflecting the institution’s dedication to high-quality theological education and commitment to equipping students for effective ministry service in their communities.
ATS comprises over 270 graduate schools of theology across the United States and Canada. Member schools of ATS conduct post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs designed to prepare individuals for the practice of ministry, as well as for teaching and research in theological disciplines.
Now that it is an Associate Member, Stark will seek accreditation from the ATS Commission on Accrediting. The journey toward accreditation following the achievement of Associate Membership can take between two and five years. Once accredited with ATS, alumni from Stark graduate programs have greater opportunities for employment as many Hospital and Military Chaplaincy programs often prefer hiring individuals whose degrees are accredited by ATS. ATS accreditation also creates the opportunity for Stark to explore offering accredited doctoral degrees approved by the US Department of Education.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Stark faculty, staff, students, and community for their support in this process and look forward to the opportunities this membership brings for Stark students and programs.
