SCS Interns: Samuel Cradoct

Home 9 Uncategorized 9 SCS Interns: Samuel Cradoct

As a student and an intern, I believe SCS is equipping me for the service of my Church and community. Here at Stark, I have truly experienced what Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” I gain so much wisdom from all of my professors and also from the many conversations I have with my fellow students everyday.

Not only do I get to grow in my faith in the classroom, I also get to develop my professional skills as an intern. When I began the internship, time management was an area in which I needed to improve.  One of the things this internship has taught me is how to balance everything, so tasks can be done both effectively and efficiently. It has shown me that I can do twenty different things, but if someone has to come behind me to redo all of them, then my work was not helping anyone. It is important to do a task and do it well.

Communication is another skill I’ve honed during the internship. At any given moment, the phone can ring, and it is my job to collect correct information from the caller. I felt a lot of pressure at first, because I needed to record all of the information correctly. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but I am grateful for the internship supervisors who helped me learn how to communicate and listen more carefully.

If you are interested in an experience that will help you grow in both your faith and your business skills, I would highly encourage you to apply to the internship program. I can leave the program knowing I am now better equipped to serve my church and the community because of what I have learned this year.
