Stark College & Seminary is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Ellis Orozco as the Public Theologian in Residence. Dr. Orozco recently retired as the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas in order to focus on mentoring and training the next generation of pastors. Dr. Orozco is a native of Pasadena, Texas and has been active in the church since childhood. In 1989, he felt the call to full-time ministry. Soon after his call to ministry, he obtained a Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and then in 2004, he earned his Doctor in Ministry in Preaching and Biblical Exegesis from Truett Seminary. He served as pastor for almost 30 years in three churches, including Iglesia Bautista Gollihar in Corpus Christi, Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, and First Baptist Church in Richardson. Dr. Orozco will join the seminary faculty this fall teaching a Ministry Leadership course. Stark College & Seminary is thrilled to have a practitioner-scholar like Dr. Orozco to equip students for service in the church and community. We look forward to the impact he will make on our students, churches, and communities across Texas and beyond.
