2024-2025 Academic Year in Review

Home 9 Stark Articles 9 2024-2025 Academic Year in Review

The 2024–2025 academic year has been a remarkable season for Stark College & Seminary, filled with milestones in accreditation, partnerships, programming, events, and student achievement. Through it all, we’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness as He continues “to equip educationally underserved followers of Christ for service in the church and community.” The highlights below offer just a glimpse of how that mission is being lived out across our institution.

Accreditation & Partnerships

Last June, Stark took a significant step toward accreditation with The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) by becoming an Associate Member. This advancement affirms our dedication to academic excellence and the formation of ministers, chaplains, and ministry leaders.

In addition, we have established Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with organizations that align with our mission. Our partnership with Buckner International allows students to engage in hands-on ministry with vulnerable populations. Through our agreement with CHRISTUS Spohn, we now offer an MDiv in Chaplaincy, enabling students to complete Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) while pursuing their degree. We have also expanded access through collaborations with Christ Mission College, Foster College, and Perspectives USA, creating more pathways for theological education.

Academic Opportunities

Stark continues to develop programming that meets the needs of our students and the churches they serve. Recently, we launched a Bachelor of Arts in Counseling track designed to meet the growing demand for a Christian Counseling-focused education. Additionally, our Accelerated BA to MDiv offers exceptional students a pathway to move seamlessly from undergraduate to graduate studies, reducing the time and cost to earn their degree.

Signature Events

In the fall, Stark held its annual Hand & Dove Scholarship Banquet, where we honored Joanna Berry for her work with STCH Ministries. This event not only celebrates individuals making a kingdom impact but also raises vital scholarship funds to support our students in their educational journey.

On March 1, we welcomed Dr. Carmen Joy Imes as the featured speaker for the Self Bible Symposium. This gathering brought together students, pastors, and community members for a time of worship, fellowship, and engagement with God’s Word, guided by a respected Old Testament scholar.

Celebrating Our Students

This past year was filled with a number of celebratory moments for our students, including licenses, ordinations, and new ministry appointments. Our students are at the heart of everything we do. Their testimonies of faithfully answering God’s call and serving in His Kingdom continually remind us why we exist.

We invite you to hear just a portion of these stories from our YouTube Playlist. These testimonies highlight the diverse backgrounds of our student body—many of whom balance ministry, work, and family while pursuing their calling.

As we continue into 2025, we look forward to celebrating the academic achievements of our students. Our Graduation Ceremony will take place on May 16 at First Baptist Church-Corpus Christi, where we will recognize the dedication and perseverance of our students who have faithfully answered God’s call.
