Every year, Stark College & Seminary hosts the Rev. Linn & Betty Self Bible Symposium where scholars and practitioners are invited to explore a specific topic. This year, the annual Rev. Linn and Betty Self Bible Symposium focused on the topic, “Spiritual Care for the Bereaved.” Ella Wall Prichard, the author of Reclaiming Joy: A Primer for Widows, and Dr. Ellis Orozco, the senior pastor of First Baptist Church – Richardson were the keynote speakers for the event. Additional break out sessions were led by Abel and Melinda Almendarez, hospice chaplain and nurse, Eric Tarver, pastor/former funeral director, and Erika Perez, licensed professional counselor and professor of counseling at UTRGV. The event took place at both the Corpus Christi and McAllen campuses.
